i love food. and, i love to decorate. that’s why i came up with this lovely combination of items for the kitchen. le sigh.
[clockwise from top left: dimpled glassware, vintage wooden spoons,
hand towels, rustic spice rack]
i worked on a few new pieces today. can’t wait to show you!

there hasn’t been much excitement around the house this last week but i thought i’d share some images from our garden. jonathan loves his succulents…and so do i.
we are busy working away on getting ready for this upcoming sunday’s flea market + planning for some future events disregarden gets to be at. fun stuff. i mean, don’t get me wrong, sometimes it isn’t fun [like when i have to pull splinters out of my fingers or i feel slightly overwhelmed with the furniture stacked ten feet high in my garage]. but, it’s worth it.
hope you are enjoying your tuesday.

look what odds + ends we found at an old warehouse.
stairway posts + railings, chair legs, table legs + who-knows-what. we cut them + are making them into fun candlesticks and namecard holders for events. i’ll show you the final product soon…
in other news, i think our whole house as a bug. some type of flu. it’s not fun. i’m dizzy. pretty much spinning + spinning + spinning…just thought you should know in case you wanted to bring me something to brighten my day and make me feel better [wink!].
happy monday friends + family!

i think if our home decor was mid century [and i had $2100 to spend on chairs, of course], i’d pick these lovely things. aren’t they gorgeous?!
hope you had a spectacular wednesday. mine consisted of a day with my dad, picking out items for his living room + office at ikea. and, painting a desk for him. fun. especially since it was 85 degrees here in los angeles. is it still winter?! i’m confused.
on another note, i’ve been working on some new pieces + cannot wait to share them with you tomorrow…

we have been working steadily on the disregarden shed since the thursday after christmas. i thought i would show you a few photos from the last week. it’s coming along but going to take quite a while for the complete version. why do projects like this have to take so long?! i wish i had a fairy wand that i could wave + it would turn from a pumpkin into a carriage…or from a pile of wood into the prettiest shed ever.
i used this. yep.
step one [well, besides tearing down the existing metal one]
step two
step three
and leftover scraps to use for shelves
so we finished putting the first part of the roof on. still have to do the walls, floor, + seal the roof. oh, and paint. and plant some flowers. and put up a rain gutter with a rain chain. and decorate the inside. i could probably find more things but i’ll stop there…
hope your first few days of 2012 have been as productive as mine. or restful. i haven’t finished my resolutions yet but i’ll share some of them with you when i have a chance. i’d love to hear what some of your resolutions are!

bringing in the new year means three things: a fresh start, setting bigger goals + buying a new planner. at least, that’s how i see it. the buying a new planner basically incorporates the first two…which is why it’s so important. oh, and the fact that there are quite a few lovely planners out there. all of which i want but could not possibly use at the same time – if i want to keep my sanity. so the tricky part is choosing the planner. i thought i’d show you my top favorites for this next year. i know 2012 is only a few days away but it’s taking me quite a while to figure out which one will best suite my organizational and fashion style. if you’re like me, you want an overall month + a weekly view. the day view is helpful for my ‘to do lists’ but not necessary [since that can quickly fill the entire page]. so many factors to consider. sheesh.
maybe you can help me. or at least be inspired for your new planner…
1. blue wavy 2. watercolor 3. sky 4. gold saffian 5. peach 6. simplified 7. lucky 8. wove 9. linen
i think i might go for numero 7. i love the theme for this next year. it is going to be my lucky year. i’m calling it now. especially if i have an adorable planner to help me work toward my goals. fashion and function. who says you can’t have both?!
